PSI Docent Program

The PSI Docent Program was begun in 2011. Our docents are a vital and valued part of PSI. They support the Institute’s mission to promote science education and public outreach through school programs, teacher workshops, community events and special events sponsored by PSI.

Docents are volunteers who commit to working at four events per year. They attend training sessions at the Institute to learn how to present hands-on activities and how to use the PSI impact rock and meteorite kits with the public.

Our docents have participated in events such as the Southern Arizona Science and Engineering Fair, Future Innovators Night at the Tucson Community Center, Raytheon’s Fun Fest, Earth Day at Pima Community College, the Desert Museum’s Teacher Appreciation Night, the Pima County Fair for Educators, classroom presentations in local schools, and many more. Two of the most popular programs they do are comet-making and star parties.

New docents and volunteers are always welcome! For more information about the docent and volunteer program, contact hr [at]
