I have been studying the geology and climate history of Mars with orbital radar data since 2006 and with thermal data since 2001. Previously, I obtained 14 years of experience with terrestrial active-source seismic data in academia (Rice University) and industry (oil & gas exploration). My skills include processing, modeling, and interpretation of remote-sensing data, software development, training course design and instruction, and personnel and project management.
I presently serve as the US/Deputy Team Leader for the Shallow Radar (SHARAD) sounder on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO). I am the Principal Investigator on a series of studies that are producing enormous 3-D volumes from SHARAD observations encompassing the Martian poles, and I lead or participate in other studies of near-surface physical properties of various Martian terrains, including landing sites, with a focus on thermal and radar observations.
