- About PSI
The long-term objective of Dr. Kristin Lawrence's research is to better understand the structure and evolution of the terrestrial planets through physical studies of planetary surfaces and interiors. Execution of this research includes the development and/or application of techniques in paleomagnetics, statistics, and potential fields. In all cases, her interests are in elucidating regional- to global-scale processes that are described by potential fields (e.g., gravity and magnetics). The research, while including a strong planetary component, is thoroughly grounded in techniques and approaches based on the physical principles of electricity and magnetism. Her current research interests focus primarily on the magnetic properties and planetary magnetic field generation of the Earth, Moon and Mars.
