Asteroids | Mineralogy, Petrology

Research Interests

Dr. Cyrena Goodrich works in the petrology, geochemistry, and isotope geochemistry of differentiated meteorites, including lunar, martian, and several primitive achondrite groups. She seeks to understand the provenance, thermal evolution and differentiation history of the ureilite parent asteroid, and is pursuing unusual origin of the chimeric Almahata sitta meteorite.

Professional History

Dr. Goodrich received her PhD in Geology from Cornell University in 1983 where she studied the petrogenesis of native iron-carbon alloys found on Disko Island off the west coast of Greenland. Subsequently, Goodrich pursued meteoricial research at the University of Arizona, Max-Planck-Institut für Chemie, and the Hawaii Institute of Geophysics and Planetology. Before joining PSI in 2008, she was a professor at both City University of New York and Kingsborough Community College.
